INEC Chairman Conniving With Government To Frustrate Growing Political Parties

Drama erupts on Friday afternoon at INEC’s headquarters in Abuja as the Electoral Commission connives with the incumbent government to frustrate opposition political parties.

The Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Professor Mahmood Yakubu has refused to accept a letter written and signed by Mr. Omoyele Sowore who is the founder and National Chairman of one of the leading opposition political parties, the African Action Congress (AAC).

The Electoral Commission which is supposed to be neutral in its relation with political parties and on matters relating to internal party affairs had instead taken a partisan stand by conniving with the suspended former National General Secretary of the African Action Congress, Mr. Leonard Ezenwa whom, according to members of the AAC is being sponsored by the incumbent government with a mission to destabilize the party and render it divided and nonactive during elections.

This, according to members of the African Action Congress (AAC) is a deliberate attempt by the incumbent All Progressives Congress (APC) to frustrate and eliminate grassroots opposition parties that have grown to gain national acceptance and support from citizens as Nigerians can no longer tolerate the economic hardship and human rights abuse meted on them by the incumbent government of retired General Muhammadu Buhari of the All Progressives Congress and thereby have continued to demand a systemic change within the country’s political sphere.
