In a tweet this morning by the popularly known Nigerian Artiste, Naira Marley, to cancel the scheduled protest to End SARS, Nigerians have taken to his post to pour out their reactions.
It would be recalled that over the past few days, the call to EndSARS had dominated the social media space driving Nigeria Activist, Omoyele Sowore, and other Nigeria Artistes like Runtown, Falz, and Naira Marley to spearhead a protest against the inhumane actions by the security operatives on young Nigerians.
However, a dialogue between Naira Marley and the Minister of Youths, Sunday Dare, to halt the protest, with the former stressing that the government was addressing the grievances expressed by Nigerians, made the Afropop singer cancel the protest scheduled for today.
Here are some gathered comments by Nigerians:
@stevobj “NAIRA Marley don carry Nigerians on 2.5 level. Lmao! I was expecting you to Japa and fo, He no shock me say you finally chickened out. #RevolutionNow“
@ClementAse2 “Right decision, the post from the @PoliceNG acknowledging the voices from the street shows some positive development. One period is enough to observe the changes.”
@Toslaa “So the police wants to have an Instagram live chat with Naira Marley and requested that the protest be held down for a week. In a week, we know the number of lives that can be affected. Clearly, they’re scared of the international bodies sharing the news!
@IamOkon “Naira Marley is truly the Fela of our time. Man not only went to prison and came back but now the Nigeria police is begging him not to lead a protest plus having an Instagram Live session with him by 11am. Naira Marley aka the people’s president! Marlians!
@DannyWalter “Truth is these Musicians have our interest but they’re going about it the wrong way. Stop leading protests individually, 2face, Naira Marley, Runtown, they’ll always silence you.At least 20 Music Stars should come together, they’re afraid of protests, more reason it must happen.”
@BruceEsther2 “SMH….this is why when people like @sowore talk, people find it hard to believe him. The day @sowore will compromise like this I will be the first to drag him, am sure that day aint coming anytime soon. Feel free to join the #RevolutionNow#EndSars protest on the 7th,8th and 9
